Who we are
BerryVille is a game made by Mirza Coco Lupic, an independent developer (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at contact@berryville.app.
What the game keeps on your iPhone
The game keeps these things in its own storage on your iPhone. They stay there. We cannot see them. Deleting the game deletes them.
- Your progress: your restaurants and cities, levels, coins and gems, pals, outfits and settings (music, sound, haptics, motion), and the chef’s name if you typed one.
- Safety copies of your progress, so a damaged save can be recovered.
- A Support ID: a random code such as
BV-7K3M-Q2XD, made on your iPhone the first time it is needed. It is not linked to your name, your Apple Account or your iPhone. It only helps us tell messages apart. - Where the game offers purchases: a record of what you bought (the item and a short code for each purchase), so that a purchase is never lost or counted twice. It holds no card or payment details.
- Where the game offers videos: your answer to the birth month and year question (the month and the year, and the day you answered; no day of birth); in Europe, the choices you made on Google’s consent message (kept by Google’s software on your iPhone, in the standard format other apps use); and a short list of your last videos (the time, the reward, the result, and each advert’s network, creative ID and auction ID), so we can help if a reward goes missing.
What the game and its advert software collect
The game itself sends us nothing. There is no account, no analytics and no server. In versions with optional videos, Unity’s advert software inside the game collects the data listed under Optional videos, and, for players aged 16 and over, Google’s consent software receives what is listed there too; the App Store privacy label shows the same list. Unity’s own engine reporting is switched off in BerryVille.
Apple may show us statistics about the game in App Store Connect, such as the number of downloads, and crash reports from people who chose to share them with app developers in their iPhone’s settings. Apple collects these under Apple’s privacy policy.
The game may ask you to rate it in Apple’s own rating window. Your rating and review go to Apple. We only see them on the App Store, like everyone else.
The privacy policy and support links in Settings open in Safari, outside the game.
E-mails you send us
SEND FEEDBACK in Settings opens your mail app with a new e-mail to us. It adds the game’s version and build number, your iPhone model, your iOS version, your Support ID and the city and restaurant you are playing to the e-mail. You see all of it before you send, and you can delete any of it. Nothing is sent unless you tap Send.
REPORT AN AD in Settings → SUPPORT INFO copies the support page’s text (with your recent video and purchase lines and each advert’s network, creative ID and auction ID) for you to paste into a message, and opens our support page. Nothing is sent unless you send it.
When you write to us, we receive your e-mail address, your message, anything you attach, and those details. We use them only to read and answer your message and to fix problems in the game. We do not sell them, share them for advertising, or add you to a mailing list. Our mailbox is provided by Hostinger.
We keep e-mails only as long as we need them to help you, and delete them after 12 months at the latest. Ask us and we delete them sooner.
Purchases Only where the game offers them
Payments are handled by Apple. We never see your card details, your name or your Apple Account. Apple tells the game that a purchase went through, and the game records it on your iPhone. The game uses Unity’s purchasing software (Unity In-App Purchasing) to talk to Apple’s App Store. Apple’s privacy policy applies to the payment.
Unity Ads’ software in the game can read the record of purchases you make in the game from the App Store on your iPhone; see Optional videos.
Refunds are handled by Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Optional videos Only where the game offers them
Every video is your choice: a video never starts by itself, and its button shows a small video symbol and the reward. You can play the whole game without watching one.
The videos come through Unity LevelPlay, from two advertising networks that belong to Unity Technologies: Unity Ads and ironSource Ads. This is how the game sets them up:
- Players aged 16 and over are asked once, by Apple’s own “Allow tracking?” question, whether the game may track them. The reason shown is “Allow tracking to see ads that suit you better. BerryVille plays the same either way.” Players under 16 are never asked.
- If you choose “Allow” (and, in Europe, also consent to personalised adverts on Google’s consent message), the advert software may read your iPhone’s advertising identifier and show you personalized adverts, chosen also from what you do in other apps and websites. The game then does not ask Unity to treat you as a child or not to sell or share your data.
- If you choose “Ask App Not to Track”, or are under 16, or have not answered, you are marked to the advert software as a child: adverts are chosen only from the game itself, are not personalized, and the game asks Unity not to sell or share your data. The advert software does read the iPhone’s identifier for apps from the same maker.
- You can change your answer at any time in your iPhone’s Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking (or Settings → BerryVille). The game uses the new answer from the next time it starts. The game itself never keeps your answer: iOS does.
- Before any advert software starts, the game asks your birth month and year, once. The answer stays on your iPhone and is never sent; Unity is never told your age. Until you answer, no advert software starts.
- For players aged 16 and over, wherever they are, Google’s User Messaging Platform receives your IP address and basic information about your device and the app each time the game starts, to decide whether Google’s consent message is needed. Google is never asked about players under 16.
- In Europe (the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), players aged 16 and over see Google’s consent message once, before any advert software starts; your choices are kept on your iPhone. If you do not consent to storing and reading information on your device, no advert software starts and nothing else in the game changes. You can change your choices at any time in Settings → PRIVACY CHOICES. Players under 16 in Europe see no message and no videos.
While it runs, Unity’s software collects: an identifier for your iPhone (the identifier for apps from the same maker, an install ID made by Unity, and, only if you allowed tracking, the advertising identifier); your IP address and the country it shows; the in-app purchases you make (which item and when, as the App Store reports them), which Unity Ads’ software can read on your iPhone; which adverts were shown, watched or tapped; how the game is used around the adverts; your device’s model, maker, iOS version, language, screen size and connection type; performance information such as loading times and energy use; and any report you send from inside an advert.
Unity uses this to show and count adverts, pay for them, prevent fraud, follow each region’s rules, and analyse and improve its software. If you allowed tracking, Unity and ironSource may also use the advertising identifier to personalize adverts and to measure them across apps. For players marked as a child, Unity’s policy says it keeps app interaction data associated with an install ID for up to 12 months, and transaction records for up to 180 days for billing and fraud prevention.
The companies the game works with, Unity (for the optional videos, including the purchase record Unity Ads’ software can read) and Google (for the consent message), are required to give your data the same or equal protection as this policy describes. Their own privacy policies explain what they do and how to ask them about your data:
- Unity Game Player and App User Privacy Policy
- Unity Privacy Policy (which also covers ironSource)
- Google (the consent message only, through Google’s User Messaging Platform): Google Privacy Policy
An advert may also show its own privacy button.
A copy in your iCloud Only if a later version offers it
BerryVille does not keep a copy of your game in iCloud yet. If a later version offers it, it will keep a copy of your progress and your purchase record in your own iCloud, using Apple’s iCloud storage, as your choice. We will not be able to see it, and you will be able to switch it off and delete it in Settings.
Notifications
The game can send you reminders as notifications on your iPhone, if you allow them when it asks. They are made on your iPhone; nothing is sent to us or anyone else.
Children
BerryVille is a game for everyone, children included. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and the game itself collects none.
Players under 16 are never asked whether the game may track them and are never tracked: they are always marked to the advert software as a child, so they see only adverts chosen from the game itself, with no personalization and no advertising identifier. Players under 16 in Europe see no consent message and no videos at all. The birth month and year stay on the iPhone.
If a child e-mails us, we use the e-mail only to answer that one message, and then delete it. A parent or guardian can write to contact@berryville.app to ask what we hold about their child (at most an e-mail) and have it deleted.
On an iPhone, parents can control purchases with Apple’s Ask to Buy and Screen Time.
Your choices and rights
- Everything the game keeps is on your iPhone. Deleting the game deletes it.
- We hold nothing about you except e-mails you send us. You can ask to see them, correct them or have them deleted at contact@berryville.app.
- In Europe, you can change your choices on Google’s consent message at any time in Settings → PRIVACY CHOICES.
- You can allow or stop tracking at any time in your iPhone’s Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Notifications can be turned off with NOTIFICATIONS in the game’s Settings, or in your iPhone’s Settings → Notifications → BerryVille.
- For data processed by Unity’s advert software, use Unity’s privacy policies above; for the consent message, Google’s. For purchases, ask Apple.
- If you live in Europe or the UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Keeping it safe
Your progress is kept in the game’s own storage on your iPhone, protected by iOS. Our mailbox is protected by a strong password and two-step sign-in.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change matters, we also say so in the game’s update notes on the App Store.
